Eating well is essential for maintaining independence, health and quality of life. If you are an NDIS participant and have trouble preparing your meals or shopping for food, you may be eligible for funding to help cover the cost of healthy meal preparation and delivery, giving you the freedom to choose nutritious meals that support your lifestyle.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to understanding how NDIS meal funding works and how Lite n’ Easy can support you.
Step 1: Check Your NDIS Plan for Meal Preparation and Delivery Funding
NDIS participants may receive support for meal preparation and delivery under:
Assistance with the cost of Meal Preparation and Delivery’ in Core Supports, or
Flexible Core Supports – if ‘Meal Preparation and Delivery’ isn’t specifically mentioned in your plan, you will need to gain approval from the NDIS first.
If you are unsure whether your plan includes this funding, speak with your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager or the NDIS to confirm your eligibility.
Step 2: Why Ready-Made Meals Support Choice & Independence
Accessing healthy, ready-made meals through Lite n’ Easy may assist you in achieving your NDIS goals. Receiving meal preparation and delivery from Lite n’ Easy:
Empowers independence – Enabling you to organise your own meals and maintain control over your daily routine.
Provides choice and variety – With more than 235 meals to choose from, plus seasonal breakfast and lunch options.

Step 3: How Lite n’ Easy Supports NDIS Participants

Are delivered fresh to your door – No (or minimal) cooking required, just heat and eat.
Are NDIS-subsidised – If you are eligible, you only pay the 30% ingredient cost, while the meal preparation and delivery components are covered by your plan.
Work with all plan types so no matter how your plan is managed, we’ve got an option for you.
Need Help Getting Meal Funding in Your NDIS Plan?
If you would like funding for meal preparation and delivery included in your NDIS plan, you can raise it in your next planning meeting or plan review. As with all NDIS funding, you will need to explain how the funding you will receive is reasonable and necessary for your circumstances. If you are looking for support for your next meeting or looking to access meal preparation and delivery with your current plan through flexible core supports, Lite n’ Easy offer a few things that can help you support your case:
A referral letter from a Dietitian explaining why you are unable to prepare meals for yourself and how receiving funding for meal preparation and delivery might benefit you; and
A quote for your Lite n’ Easy meal delivery.
