“I was not taking care of myself.”

Four years ago, I lost my husband after a sudden illness. My daughter Kate helped me nurse him at home and when he passed away, I had to learn how to manage so many things. Kate stepped in and helped me of course, but I felt I became too reliant on her. Even though Kate cooked for me and bought my shopping I was not eating properly or taking care of myself.

Being older and having a small appetite sometimes means I don’t always feel like a big meal and it is important to have choices. “Helping me to heal.”

Last year I had a terrible fall and had a full cast on my leg for three months. I was unable to do anything really for six months as I was wheelchair bound. With the help of Lite n' Easy I have healed well and felt I did not have to worry about grocery shopping or cooking.

Losing my dad four years ago and caring for Mum had changed my relationship with her. I had to step in to help Mum with so many things and for a time I felt our relationship deteriorating as I tried to take on too much. I love Mum so much and consider her to be my best friend and so I put myself under pressure to make sure she had everything she needed to be happy and healthy.

Having worked in Aged Care for many years I also know the importance of flavourful meals and having choices. Mum will quite often have a soup and desert instead of a full meal at the end of the day if she isn't that hungry. It is a life changing product from my point of view, as a carer and someone with an Aged Care background.
